Our History

BeyondAutism was founded as The Rainbow Charity in 2000, when a group of parents, led by Karen Sorab, established Rainbow School with just 3 pupils. Since then the charity has undergone a remarkable transformation, growing exponentially in response to need reaching over 140 learners and families across our services.

With our schools and Post-19 services established, we noticed a gap in our offering.  After several successful pilots in 2017 and 2018, our Early Years provision became a permanent service in June 2018 thanks to a generous grant from an anonymous donor. The service has since received grants from Children in Need, The National Lottery Community Fund, and Edward Gostling towards the cost of running the service, enabling us to keep it free to the families who attend. We are continually seeking ongoing funding and support to secure the long-term future of the service.

In September 2019 Early Years’ launched a pilot of the School Readiness Group to assist the transition of children with autism into mainstream primary school.
